A Complete Count: The importance of Census
Every year, the federal government allocates more than $400 billion to states and communities based, in part, on census data. Census data are used to determine locations for retail stores, schools, hospitals, new housing developments and community facilities, as well as boundaries for state and local legislative and congressional districts. By participating in the Census, you can help create a better future for you and those important to you.
The 2010 Census Questionnaire is EASY, IMPORTANT AND SAFE!
With only 10 questions, the 2010 Census questionnaire takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. Households are asked to provide key demographic information, including: whether a housing unit is rented or owned; the address of the residence; and the names, genders, ages, and races of others living in the household. By law, the Census Bureau cannot share an individual's responses with anyone, including other federal agencies and law enforcement entities. In the history of the Census, the information has never been compromised.
To take a look at a sample questionnaire, go online to www.2010.census.gov and click on "Form Preview". For additional information, call the Dallas Regional Census Center at 214.267.6900. For employment inquiries, visit www.census.gov and click onto "job seekers" or call 866.861.2010. Your Census questionnaire should be coming in the mail in March. Let's make sure everyone in the Azle area is counted!
